Cherry liqueur

  • A liqueur
  • 24% ABV

Generic term for liqueurs that have cherry flavoring in either a neutral or a grape brandy base; a lot of people use cherry liqueur as a shorthand to denote Cheery Heering, a cloying and complex cherry brandy.

A common question I'm asked is what's the difference between cherry liqueur and maraschino liqueur?

The answer is: quite a bit! Maraschino is pretty similar to triple sec: dry, clear, and light (albeit definitely sweet), as opposed to something like a brandy which has a certain level of thickness and flavor profile that commands a room on its own.
