Bourbon 6.0cl 2.0oz
Simple syrup 3.0cl 1.0oz
Blackberries Four
Lemon wedges Half a lemon
Mint sprigs One
Use ounces
Use centiliters


  1. Muddle lemon slices, blackberries and mint in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add bourbon and simple syrup and fill shaker with ice.
  3. Shake at least 10 times and strain into a short glass filled with ice.
  4. Garnish with mint.


The tartness of the blackberries and a bit of mint, lemon and sugar really allows the bourbon to be forward; the fun thing about smashes, too, is that you can scale up the intensity of the drink pretty easily by tempering the amount of syrup.
