The name of this cocktail comes from the tequila-producing Los Altos region of Mexico -- and the Black Manhattan, which similarly substitutes an amaro.

In terms of flavor, this is definitely a tequila showcase but the spice of the Abano and the Zucca excite, while the calming orange notes of the Aperol smooth out some of the edges.
