Pina Verde

This tiki smoothie is equal parts fruity and herbaceous.

Green Chartreuse 4.5cl 1.5oz
Pineapple juice 4.5cl 1.5oz
Coco Lopez 2.0cl 0.67oz
Lime juice 1.5cl 0.5oz

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender, and add ice (about 5-6 regular-sized cubes, cracked).
  2. Blend until smooth, and pour into a glass or tiki mug.
  3. Garnish with a mint sprig.


Playfully dubbed the, “Green-Yuh Colada,” by the staff at Polite Provisions, the Piña Verde was originally inspired by Erick Castro’s unorthodox addition of Green Chartreuse to his Piña Coladas years ago.

His aim was to create a drink rich with herbaceous flavor. When rum—and then later gin—didn’t cut it, Castro ditched the spirit altogether and upped the liqueur to pick up the slack. The additions of pineapple juice and lime add a fruity kick, while the Piña Colada staple, Coco Lopez, keeps it tethered to the original.
